The reports are not mixed but quite straightforward: metformin (glucophage) increases the rsiks of neural tube defects, but this can be countered by taking extra folic acid (800 mcg/day) while TTC and during the first 12 w of pgy. On the other hand omitting met while pg, you increase the risks of miscarriage. For your info
