cycle abnormalities - Dr. SamFrom: paula (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 5 Aug 2001 15:08:21 -0500 (CDT)
i am really sorry to bother you with this question, i know it is not related to medicine, but i am hoping you will know the answer. i thought my cycle had finally regulated. it wasn't perfectly normal, but Janurary through April i had a period every 35-40 days. that long of a cycle is usually anovulatory, but at least it was regular. then in april i started my period on the 8th, and i didn't start another until July 2nd. that was a 86 day cycle...ok...then i started AGAIN on July 24th, having a 22 day cycle. i am now wondering what in the world my body is attempting to do. i wasn't on any drugs that would have induced a period in july (or any other time this year actually) but i have been sick (bronchitis and such) for the past three weeks. anyone have any idea about this? or has anyone else had this happen? before this year i NEVER had periods on my own, so i am wondering whether a short cycle is as likely to be anovulatory as a long cycle. is there a range of legnths that a normal ovulatory cycle would fall into? thank you so much for your time.
