Hello again, You're right, it depends on the person---to a point. Spiro or any other anti-androgen can take up to 6 months for you to start seeing the full effect of it. Once you stop taking it, the hair/acne will start coming back again. So technically, you should be staying on it if you want to see results. It won't get rid of the excess hair that you may already have, but it will slow down the regrowth of it and help prevent NEW ones from coming. However, if you're trying to become pregnant, I remember reading that you cannot take it while TTC. But overall, with the medications that we are given for PCOS (Insulin sensitizers, anti-androgens, etc.), you generally will be on those meds for the rest of your life since they are helping to "control" your PCOS. Basically, you need to be asking these questions to your Dr. We can give you very general advice, but you're looking into more of a consult on your own PCOS and needs and that's something that we just can't really help you with. I would write all of your questions and concerns down and bring it with you to your appt. and ask the Dr. then. That way, you'll get all of your answers in one shot. Hope that helps.
