Re: PCOS-MEDICATION digest 525From: Renee (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 31 Jul 2001 08:17:49 -0700
Actually, there are studies that show that type I diabetes (not making insulin, not insulin sensitivity) is decreased in children who are nurses. I don't know if there are any looking at insulin sensitivity later. There are about 20,000 studies showing the benefits of nursing. Remember, nothing is 100%. If something shows an increased risk, there will still be a lot of people without it, and vice versa. But, you are absolutely right. You have to look at the whole picture when deciding whether or not to nurse. I think it's best, when you are able to do it, and still be a quality mother. But, as you pointed out, there are ramifications to each part of the decision, and each woman has to make up her mind on what's best for both her and the baby. Renee
