Re: VaniquaFrom: Sarah (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 31 Jul 2001 07:41:38 -0500 (CDT)
Erica, my questions is: area you only using Vaniqua to tackle the excess hair? because that alone might not be enough. i use Vaniqua 2x/day and take 100 mg of Spironolactone/day for excess hair/slight acne (the ingrown hairs on my chin were causing blemishes). used together, i'm really seeing a difference in my complexion. i do not pluck half as often as i used to, and my skin has cleared up. i've been on both meds together for about 3 months--my doc said it can take anywhere between 2-6 months for the spiro to start lowering androgen levels (that's what it does). after 8 weeks on Vaniqua, i started noticing a difference, but only in certain areas (like, where the growth wasn't as heavy). now, after 3, i'm finally starting to notice a difference everywhere. perhaps if you haven't already added spiro to your regiment, you should. it's a generic prescription--for me, it only costs 5.00$; without insurance, it's something like 15.00$. also, other women find gluc, or the new bcp Yasmin, to be helpful.
