Re: PCOS-MEDICATION digest 523From: Allison (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 30 Jul 2001 09:22:44 -0700 (PDT)
I was on the deprovera for over a year. It was awful. I gained 80 lbs, major depression and mood swings, bleeding for months at a time, increased facial growth and I went from having regular periods to none for months at a time. I found out afterwards it can take at least 18 months to regain a normal cycle afterwards or like my case I haven't had steady periods since. I really think it was a mogor contributor to the imbalance in my hormone levels. Even as a birth control I found the side affects just weren't worth it and I'll bet your dr. didn't bother to fill you in on the details. If you're a PCOS'er you just don't need the extra estrogen for months on end.
