NYC resident with PCOS, no insuranceFrom: Anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 27 Jul 2001 14:45:26 -0500 (CDT)
I am in desperate need for medical care. I was diagnosed with PCOS about 4 years ago by a doctor whose attention was paid for under my college insurance. Now that I'm out of college, unemployed and without insurance, my health is pending on my employment status. I'm trying depserately to get a job, but the industry (publishing) I'm seeking is in a dry spell at the moment due to the economy. Though I'm willing to accept medicaid, I'm skeptical because I've been to city doctors who gave me little attention, dismissed my concerns and misdiagnosed me. I do not want to go through the hassle of getting insurance if I will receive such poor care. It also saddens me when I have to explain so much and tell them my personal story to a doctor who seems insensitive to my concerns and too busy to address them due to the high number of patients. My health and mental condition is very critical. I am very depressed by the excessive hair and how it effects my lifestyle/dating. ALso, I have no idea what my progesterone, LSH or testosterone levels are and I need a nutritionist to meet my vegetarian lifestyle. Any suggestions? I live in NYC and I need a doctor who specializes in PCOS or endocrinology.
