Hi Serena,
There are several ways to diagnose PCOS: sometimes having a look at a patient and taking her history does the job. So maybe your doctor did it this way. Others do a lot of blood work, ultrasound, endometrial biopsy even laparoscopy with the same result. In general I would say good docs do the same job with less diagnostic procedures.
