PCOS DiagnosisFrom: anonymous@obgyn.netWed, 25 Jul 2001 13:20:22 -0500 (CDT)
Well, I have been a member of this web page for a while but this is the first time that I have submitted any kind of writing. I was diagnosed with PCOS by my gyn in June 2001. I have spent this summer from one doctors office to another. I saw my first endocrinologist about 2 weeks ago. I was not impressed. I made another appointment to see a RE. I saw him yesterday. I was even less impressed with him. My options at this point are slim. I went today and had all of the blood work done that my first doctor recommended. The doctor also gave me a prescription for provera. No results from test but he wants me to start taking this med on the 15th of every month. I have no idea why and he would not elaborate. My question to you is what does this medicine do? Is it safe? Has anyone been on it? I have a follow up appointment next week. What I want is a treatment for PCOS specially for the insulin problem. I think either one of these doctors just want to put me on birth control!!! Anyways, hope someone can help. I really do enjoy reading these postings as I find that the majority of women here have more knowledge about this disease than my doctors do. Magster
