Advice needed! Met? avandia? my head hurts!

Hey ladies, hope everyone is doing well!

Just a couple questions and concerns that I thought y'all could help me with, being generally more informed and experienced with the treatment of PCOS than I am. Especially since I'll be seeing my (not so cooperative) endo next week and wuld like to be armed with tons of info...

1) I'm on metformin. It sucks. It is killing my stomach, I'm having diarrhea, some abominal cramping, the works, you know? And I've been having a lot of trouble taking it as I am now, 500 mg three times a day. I've seen a lot of people talk about gluco x (or xr?) that's a time release doo-hickey. First of all, what exactly is it called so I can go look it up... and secondly, how have y'all done with that as opposed to the 3x-a-day option?

2) What's up with the whole Avandia thing? I know that the drug controls blood glucose levels... but should I bring it up with my endo? He's never done any blood sugar tests on me (as far as I have been told, at least), so I don't even know if it's indicated. But, also what about using Avandia in conjunction with metformin?

3) Lactic Acidosis. Scary. And I'm not feeling well. Does anyone out there have access to a good definition of the symptoms for LA? Cause I haven't found one yet... and I'm getting myself all worried. I may be tired and thristy all the time and have some muscle cramps... but I don't have kidney or liver problems, so I should be fine, right? Arg!

Thanks all, ~Margot
