MY PERSONAL STORYFrom: kristi (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 19 Jul 2001 02:31:43 -0500 (CDT)
I want to tell my personal story and see what kind of replies I could get and what kind of advice may come out of this effort. First off I want to let all of you know that you are not alone. I have been diagnosed with PCOS since i was 13 years olds I am 23 now. I have had ample ultrasounds, experimental medicines, procedures blood work ups. biopy's even a lapryoscopy all to come to the conclusion nothing is really wrong. I honestly can't decide if i believe i have pcos because many of the symptoms i am lacking. I have never had normal periods in fact in my whole life i have probably had maybe 10. I am married and would like to have a baby so only within the last year have I became really active in trying to figure this thing out and seeking support. My family isn't much support they seem to think it is all in my head. I have noticed over the past year my personal symptoms have gotten worse in a few weeks I have a appt. with a reproductive endocronologist i am hopeful about this appt. my primary car physician has basically washed his hands of these symptoms he doesn't know how to help me. i was on actos for 8 months and it was very expensive experimental medicine $120. a month insurance would not pay for this I had one period that lasted one day and as a result of that one day stayed on a serzone high for about a week. I have gained over 100 pds over the past year with no explanation. I have ample gastrointestional problems and have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia associated with firbromyalgia is infertility. I don't know what is ahead for me but i prey it is positive. My hair is very thin though and blonde and sparse all over my body so i don't have that paticular symptom. i don't have dark patches of skin or skin tags i have never actually had a cyst on my ovary and most of my weight is not in my middle its everywhere distributed evenly hahaha ! i do also have a birth defect called poland syndrome has anyone heard of that ? i often wondered if somehow it is not all connected and if some dr. would just take the time to spend a little time on me could they find out the source and offer me the correct medicine instead of keeping me and maintaining me on about 8 different meds. ? My husband is very supportive of me and is going for a sperm evaluation tommorow actually just so we can rule that out. please reply to me or email me at my personal email address wowedout@juno.com i am seeking friends,advice,support......your personal story and what you can offer me is much appreciated. Together In This Battle ~ KRISTI
