I have been on glucophage for 6 weeks now, it is working well in the sense that i have lost about 15 pounds so far, but i was expecting my period to start after a month and am disappointed and concerned that it hasnt started yet.. i am low-carbing and exercising too, for anybody who was on glucophage, did the period start exactly a month after you started treatment, if it didnt start in a month did it come on a little later or does it mean that the medicine is not going to work for me?? i even took a preggy test and , negative..

Hi,

I started taking metphormin (glucophage) on June 8, 2001. I have always had a period. However, I became concern after starting the metphormin (glucophage) because I didn't have a cycle until July 14, 2001. I think the body has to get adjusted to the glucophage. When I received my period, it wasn't heavy on the 3rd day like it has always been. I feel better on this medication than I have in 7 years. Hang in there.
