Kate,

Dr. Sam is absolutely correct. My doctors(!) have warned me extensively to stop taking sprinolactone when trying to conceive and especially when you become pregnant. Like the birth control pill, I have always heard it is ideal to stop taking these prescriptions a few months before trying to conceive.

I say live with the acne, if possible, or talk to your doctor about a safe and effective treatment while pregnant.

Dr. Sam: Would taking Metformin (as part of a fertility treatment), which I understand is suppose to induce periods, help with the acne? If you are having regular periods, perhaps your hormones are more normalized? I suspect the excess testosterone contributes to the acne?
