Is this all they can do...From: Tina (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 18 Jul 2001 12:31:36 -0500 (CDT)
Yesterday, after several months of doctor visits and three doctors. My new Reproductive Endocrinologist stated I have PCOS, prescribed Demulen (insteda of my triphasil) and Spirolactone (for hair growth & hormone problem). Currently NOT trying to get pregnant. Is this really all they can do is prescribe medicine and send me on my way? I've had the period problems since I was a skinny 16yr old - just was told it'd get better. In last few years I gained 50lbs. I've been losing weight recently (20lbs) am about 30lbs overweight, thru a low fat-low carb diet. Frightened that a new higher dose of birth control pill will cause weight gain. I am just concerned that this is all that can be done. Seems to me that the two pills are treating the symptoms and suppressing the symptoms - not correcting the problem. Is this really all that can be done? Just expressing thoughts... Tina
