Dr. Sam - question about estradiol and prolactinFrom: JC (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 17 Jul 2001 19:24:14 -0500 (CDT)
Dr. Sam, You have helped me in the past and I am hoping you can do so again. Background Info: 31 years old diagnosed IR and pcos March 2001 5th month on Glucophage XR - started at 1000mg, now on 2000mg I took your previous advice and I am waiting the 6 months before taking Clomid, but that is fast approaching. You mention estradiol and prolactin in other posts. Initially dr. put me on Provera for 5 days to start a cycle, only minimal spotting/bleeding followed. 1 cycle on my own since starting Met, minimal bleeding - that was 43 days ago. No ovulation based on charting BBT - looks like "Rocky Mountains" Since my bleeding was minimal after Provera and minimal the one month on my own, should my doctor be testing hormone levels or anything else? 2/14/01 my FSH was 7.0 and LH was 16.9 with Testosterone of 54. This was all prior to taking Met. Only Testosterone has been tested since then (down to 32). Should my FSH and LH be tested again if I am trying to conceive? Should I have a conversation with my doctor about estradiol or prolactin. Not quite sure what they do. Also, at this point I have noticed some cervical fluid that would be conducive to conception (or so I have read in books) It has been coming and going a few days at a time and then dry again. Could my body be trying to ovulate? SHould I wait more than 6 months on Met before taking Clomid? Getting a bit nervous about the whole thing. Any input would be wonderful!!!!
