I have been diagnosed with PCOS for about 2 years and my doctor put me on the pill - ovranette and spironolactone. Result = acne completely gone, lost 22 lbs, moods more stable, facial hair + excess body hair gone. BUT, the hair on my scalp is shedding at an alarming rate. Doctor now wants to take me off spironolactone. I haven't yet, as I don't want the other stuff to return, and from reading info etc, I thought spironolactone would reduce male pattern balding. Help! I don't konw what to do. Doc hasn't got a clue really, but I am wondering as most of my symtoms seem to be reducing, why is the hair loss getting worse? Help and directions would be appreciated.
