Previous message: Renee: "Metformin and fasting insulin levels" My 2 cents - I was originally going to do a study where you are randomly selected for 2, 4 or 8 and I chose 8 which made the doctor happy. He normally starts with 4 but thought 2 would do nothing for me. Anyway, my veins didn't cooperate with necessities for the study so had to drop out. He prescribed 4 mg. I'm not seeing much happen, but I meet with him next week and am going to see what other options I have - increase it or combine with something else or what. 8 mg doesn't scare me as they check you to see how your liver functions are doing soon after starting and periodically after anyway.
