Chitosol/Chitosan--Dr. Sam, anyone,--heard of this?From: Zowie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 28 Jun 2001 17:31:39 -0500 (CDT)
Hello everyone, I recently saw a TV Ad for this "Chitosol" pill that supposedly works by absorbing fat (whether stored fat, like most of us have due to IR, or fat that you're eating). The ad stated that since our bodies can't digest chitosol, it, along with the fat that it has absorbed is simply passed through your system. I was very intrigued by this and went online to look up more information (such as PRICE--since the ad didn't even say! weird huh?). I want to point out that neither on the ad, nor on the website (http://www.chitosol.com) has the actual manufacturer listed. The website is maintained by DMI, Inc.--but they don't actually say THEY are the ones that make this new pill. They did, however, on TV state that this pill is patented and has been clinically proven to work and is safe. Well, I found another site (http://www.chitosan-chitosol.com) from Grassroots Natural Products which advertises a STRONGER version of this same pill (which means you take LESS with your meals). Surprisingly, this stronger version was also less expensive, and also had a money back guarantee. I'd like to know if anyone has heard of or tried this new invention. I asked my Dr. about it today, and she said she had heard some good things about it, but really didn't KNOW anything about it. I'm very interested in this, but want to know more about it medically and scientifically before paying for it. I don't know if there is another similar product I can just get in a local drug store or not either. If anyone has any information on this pill, I would love to hear it--good or bad. I'm just hoping to finally get this weight off. I've been doing a lot of walking this past month and eating less, but NOTHING is working. I'm still tired all the time and can't stand to do more than walk---whether it's for an hour or just 10 minutes a day. I try to do what I can, but it's just NOT working. I don't expect to see IMMEDIATE results, but I thought I'd at least be feeling a little bit better by now at least--or have lost a pound or so. I wish I could just cut my stomach off from below my breasts to my hip area--then I would look a LOT better! >:( Sorry, I'm just frustrated and when I saw this product, my heart skipped! Any info on it is appreciated. I also would like to know if it will cause complications with my current meds: Avandia, Iron, Flutamide (anti-androgen) and multivitamins. Thanks for reading!! --Zowie :)
