I was on metformin for 3 months at 2000mg.day..it was useless to help clear up my acne. I had been on accutane 6 nonths before and that was useless too and it totally dried out my face. Being on sprironolactone for past 8 months has been the biggest help. Accutane is a miracle drug for those in their 20s or early 30's..after that..haven't heard many good results as that acne is more prone to be hormonal related. Only side effect with spiro is irregular periods..like every 17 days.. Also as you get older, and your estrogen levels drop or testerone levels rise..acne comes on with a vengeance..and needs to be controlled with more hormonal methods.
