Hi Laura,

As others have replied, you are not supposed to drink *any* alcohol while on glucophage. However, sometimes living life "normally" can get in the way of this. Before I started on glucophage, but was already counting carbs, my nutritionist told me that a glass of wine = 1 serving of carbs, a bottle of beer = 2 servings, and a shot of hard alcohol = 3 servings of carbs. This has helped me a lot to really watch my intake. I have been on glucophage for about 9 weeks now (1000 mg/day). The very first week I went out to a concert and had a couple of mixed drinks (following a dinner with a moderate amount of carbs) -- I was really (!) sick the following day. In the weeks since, I have had a glass of wine on occasion -- but just one, and only in combination with fairly low carb meals. The one time I had some wine on a high carb day, the stomach problems returned with a vengeance. So -- be good to yourself & be very cautious with regards to drinking. Take care!
