Re: PCOS someone please help anwser some questions for me!!From: Virginia (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 25 Jun 2001 02:16:43 -0500 (CDT)
Dear Erica Many woman who have PCOS do have children - I think you should not be in such a rush at 19. For now it is better to treat the symptoms and get your body as healthy as possible. Don't have children for the sake of it - have them when you are ready. (and at optimum health) Diane 35 is a BCP that is suitable for the treatment of PCOS. It helps regulate menstrual cycles and clears up the acne (takes about 3 months). Other BCP's are not recommended as they mask the symptoms instead of help them. You are at a bigger risk of diabetes or heart problems than cancer. At least being diagnosed young you can start fixing things up right away. The first thing you have to do is change you diet. (see diet section of this web site) and eat low carbs. Also find a different doctor - PCOS is a very big deal - a life altering sized big deal. Get a gynocologist or endocrinologist (phone your local hospital to find one near you).
