Avandia StudyFrom: Dona (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 23 Jun 2001 19:25:51 -0500 (CDT)
Hi All, I haven't posted here in a while. Life has been very busy for me. I saw my new RE at Stanford University Medical Center a week and a half ago. He wants me to participate in a 12 week Avandia study. During this time they will be monitoring me closely for IR,blood sugar levels, hormone levels,Progesterone levels and ultrasounds to see if I ovulate with Avandia. Well I have waited this long to TTC I guess 3 more months for a sudy isn't so long. I think I am going to do it.I had a battery of tests done last week and a 3 hour glucose tolorance test as well. He is to call me with the results next week some time and I will be starting on the Avandia. I noticed that he did a lot more tests than my previous RE had done and this is the fist time I have had a 3 hour GTT. He was amazed that my other doctor had left out a lot of what said were very IMPORTANT tests.Well I am in good hands now thank god. At the end of the study we will start to TTC and try clomid if I havent ovulated with the Avandia. He will treat me for the first 3 months of my pregnancy (hopefully I will get pregnant) and then refer me to a High risk pregnancy specialist (perinatologist). Even though I have had 3 losses he is reluctant to put me in a high risk pregnancy loss catagory because he said all 3 of my losses were unrelated to each other and only one was do to PCOS at 6 weeks (low progesterone),but he dosent want to take any chances with me. My last loss at 22 weeks I found out from him was do to CMV(cyto-megalo) virus that I contracted in my first trimester ( was not told this before..so it was a new revelation). So this was a sadness but a relief to find out that it was not the PCOS that caused the M/C guess I just have bad luck. Well have to go for now. Yor all in my prayors,Dona
