Re: Hair loss, acne, etc . . .From: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 17 Jun 2001 17:18:53 -0400
Hi! I really don't know about the acne or hair loss situations (although I would assume that if the underlying chemical/hormonal imbalance is being treated, these symptoms would diminish as well), but I DO know that while the amount of NEW body/facial hair growth will lessen, any body/facial hair that has already been 'activated' by the chemical/hormonal imbalance in your body will NOT STOP GROWING. Awful, I know. My dermatologist, endocrinologist, and electrolocist have all told me this. Once a hair follicle is activated, it will ALWAYS be activated, regardless of fixing the problem that caused it to be activated in the first place. What you need to do is fix the chemical/hormonal imbalance in your body by taking the necessary meds and dieting/exercising healthfully (to keep more follicles from being activated) and treating the hairs that are there already through waxing or laser or electrolysis. Electrolysis seems to be the only truly permanent way to get rid of hair right now, although lasers are well on their way (and I hope they get there fast because they are so much less time-consuming than electrolysis!). Good luck! Much love
