Re: BCP Question for Dr. SamFrom: =?iso-8859-2?q?Zalányi Sámuel ?= (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 11 Jun 2001 20:19:30 +0200
Hi Rumika, I keep repeating this: BCPs are not for PCOS. Partial exception is Diane, which is a combination of the antiandrogen cyproterone acetate + ethinyl estradiol (common in all BCPs). The reason: BCPs dont cure PCOs only mask some of the symptoms (eg. irregular bleeding) but they definitely deteriorate the condition underlying PCOS, insulin resistance. You also tend to gain weight on BCPs. As for Avandia, if you gained on it why dont you try metformin? For your info Sam
