About PCOS and metformin: the biochemical baisis of PCOS is IR (i.e. if you
really have PCOS you are IR too). To demonstrate IR is a technical
question: it may be so slight, that it fall within normal lab values, but
still you may later become manifestly IR. Therefore insulins sensitizers
are causal therapy for PCOS.
PCOS and cysts: is somewhat more difficult, because the name implies you
have cysts in your ovaries. Anyway the term was coined some 70 y ago and is
a bunch of symptoms and you may have some signs and may not have others.
