adrenals or ovaries? What then about IR? I understand that some PCOS women have the adrenal glands which overproduce androgens while others have ovaries which overproduce androgens. I know the "dex test" is the test you take to find out which of the two is causing the problem. Of course, I was never given this test. My question: I have heard that glucophage only works to suppress the overproduction of androgens from the ovaries. Is that true? For all I know my adrenal gland could be the culprit. Also: Depending on which is the problem (adrenal or ovaries), different meds would be appropriate. For example, dexamethasone or prednisone is prescribed when the adrenals are implicated.
