adrenals or ovaries? What then about IR?

Does anybody know the answer to this? I understand that some PCOS women have the adrenal glands which overproduce androgens while others have ovaries which overproduce androgens. I know the "dex test" is the test you take to find out which of the two is causing the problem. Of course, I was never given this test.

My question: I have heard that glucophage only works to suppress the overproduction of androgens from the ovaries. Is that true? For all I know my adrenal gland could be the culprit.

Also: Depending on which is the problem (adrenal or ovaries), different meds would be appropriate. For example, dexamethasone or prednisone is prescribed when the adrenals are implicated.

Who the hell even knows if I'm taking the right meds.

Anyone have any info for me?
