Thanks, Sue, for all the info. I will definitely request the visit with an RE when I go to see the E, if not before, but since there is only one of each my area, the year will probably be over before I'm seen by both.

As for the question about my doctor's comments on the pancreas, the way she explained it: Met will absorb excess insulin in the bloodstream, but won't inhibit production of it. So, the pancreas will continue to be overworked and eventually stop working. OTOH, actos/avandia apparantly replenish the cells in the pancreas, in addition to improving the efficiency of insulin that's already in the blood stream so that the pancreas doesn't have to pump out as much insulin. However, I am pretty much of the opinion that she wasn't completely informed about PCOS, so take all this with a grain of salt. I think if all her predictions about the life expectancy of my organs were right, I'd be dead before reaching 40 anyway. If anyone knows differently, please set me straight.
