I have been diagnosed with POS since the age of 21 and am now 38. I was recently hospitalized with a severe cause of urticaria/hives with no prior history of allergies. In researching urticaria/hives I found it linked to hormonal disorders (hyperthyroidism) and possibly POS. I have been through the other possibilties and none of them make sense no specific food was different, no chemicals etc. The scary part was the attack was acute and so I need to try and track down what it could be. I am going to contact an allergest Monday morning but am wondering if I would be better going through an endocrinologist at the same time. The week before the breakout my POS symptons became very accute with a missed period, night sweats, irritability, etc. Has anyone ever experienced these symptons? Would I be smart to go down both paths? Any advice/articles/research would be helpful.
