Often, with plantar warts, a callous will be formed around the wart, because it's on the bottom of your foot. When I had one, I was prescribed salicylic acid (I think it was stronger than over-the-counter) and a metal foot file. The salicylic acid softens the callous which is then scrubbed away by the file. It is a slow process, and it took me a while to get rid of it, but eventually, enough callous is removed that the core comes right out.

I would have someone look at it before I'd let it go away on its own. They can sometimes grow quite large and have to be cut out. It's not that big a deal, because they're usually not really *under* the skin, but it is annoying, and more so if they're large.

Most importantly, if you have it looked at, you can find out if it is a simple plantar wart or something else entirely.
