Glucophage/metforminFrom: Valerie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 31 May 2001 09:48:23 -0500 (CDT)
Hi y'all, I am new to this board but have a question. I was diagnosed 10 years ago with PCOS and have had years of infertility. I am not overweight, do not have facial hair, but do have acne and very irregular, non-ovulatory periods. My GYN prescribed 850/once a day of Glucophage yesterday. He did not do blood work to see if I am insulin resistant but said to try it and will check for ovulation with an ovulation kit and/or progesterone level on day 21. My questions are: is this a normal level to start on (it seems that 500/3 times a day is more common) and should I have blood work done before I start the meds. I am supposed to start them today but I am feeling unsure. We would love to get pregnant. Any advice would be great. Thanks, Kvm27
