Hi Deb, Thanks for the encouragement. I sure hope I see the weight-loss that you did. I've gained 60 lbs in the last 4.5 years and didn't know why until being diagnosed with PCOS and reading all the posts on this board. This has been way more informative than anything my doctor has shared with me. My husband jokes that he wishes he had a syndrome that he could blame for all his ailments!!

Anyway, the reason I replied is to let you know - everything I've ever heard/read about low-carb diets was that you should have between 20 and 30/day. If you limit yourself too much (eg., cutting out fruits, dairy, etc.) you lose all the nutrients & vitamins that those foods provide. Also, you risk doing damage to your kidneys and getting ketosis if you eat too much protein/amino acids. My OB told me to cut out potatoes, rice, pasta, bread, anything in a bag, anything processed, and sweets (what's left??? chicken and broccoli every day for me!), but never to cut out the fruits, etc from my diet.

Hope that helps!

Have a great holiday weekend.
