Re: PCOS-MEDICATION digest 457From: Allison (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 25 May 2001 08:52:23 -0700 (PDT)
Hi, I just signed up on this list this past Monday and already I'm finding the posts reassuring me about some of my own gut instincts. A year ago I was diagnosed with PCOS but I wasn't handled very well and ended up spending the past year researching about it on my own. In the past 2 months I've seen 2 other Gyn's about it and this last one sounds like she's at least willing to listen and consider my opinions and is impressed with the research so far. I'm under Kaiser health plan so I need to go through their process for handling PCOS which starts with BCP to get me regular (the ortho-tri was a bust, she's trying provera to get me started with a period and then I'm to start a different kind but I forgot the name (it starts with an "M"). I'm to go back in 2 months for additional blood tests and to see about possibly moving me onto an insulin sensitizer. I've been making going to the gym a regular part of my schedule and have been working towards adapting my diet to the "30-30-40" plan (it's simular to the zone but more tolerant of adjusting for weight differencials between people). I'm interested in herbal suppliments and other holistic treatments that might help. I welcome any input you all might have. Taking it one day at a time, Allison ===== There are no Endings, Only New beginnings... Yahoo! Auctions - buy the things you want at great prices
