Why meds?

I have recently been advised to have the blood workup for PCOS. I was diagnosed in 1983, and was placed on the pill which increased my hair growth as well as making my periods more irregular. I have had 4 pregnancies resulting in 3 children. I do not wish to have any more. I have been losing weight since January on the low carb diet, and my blodd sugars are within normal limits. I do not wish to go on any medication. I can control the diabetes with diet. Is there a reason why I need to go on any medication? My cholesterol levels are excellent. I need a lipid profile and will have this done when I have my next Hgb A1c. Would appreciate a reply.

Hi, I have been on Atkins low carb diet since January and have lost 42 lbs.
I have been at a standstill the past week. I went to the OB/Gyn on Friday, and
she ordered tests for PCOS. I am frustrated because I was diagnosed back in the
80's, and why pay the money for all of the tests. I am Type II diabeic also.
I know I am insulin resistant now thanks to the Atkins program. Is it really
necessary to also do the testing. I have had 4 pregnancies and have 3 sons,
and am not having any more, so this is not an issue. I am interested in the
supplements to see if these help with the plateau in the weight loss. Any
suggestions?
