BCP and test results (little long)From: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 8 May 2001 09:29:39 -0500 (CDT)
Am stuck in doctor run around, and I'm hoping for some advice. Recently saw a primary care physcian for some problems I feel are related to PCOS. My GYN, who is actually a RE, is very uncommunicative and last year would only put me on bcp for treatment (she feels Met is too "experimental" and insists it won't be covered by my insurance). SO new doctor is very nice, and v. exited about treating PCOS, and orders blood work. He didn't do insulin or GTT, and the things he ordered apparently came back 'close to normal'. I don't feel close to normal, I feel unky. Couldn't the bcp be masking symptoms? Isn't it possible that he's not getting an accurate reading of whats going on because my body is being tricked into looking normal, when underneath its not? I don't want to go off bcp right now if I can help it...they help with the acne adn w/out them I NEVER get a period (and I'm not ttc). But I would like to lose some wieght, and feel better all around. What is the relationship of BCP to all of the tests? I see him again next week....
