Pregnant with MetforminFrom: Ruth (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 30 Apr 2001 22:03:31 -0500 (CDT)
I am now 14 weeks pregnant and I was on the Metformin until week 12. The baby is healthy so far, so we are keeping our fingers crossed. Here's what I did that worked so far: Used Gonal-F to stimulate ovaries and went through an IUI. Been on 1700mg Met for about 6 months prior and up to week 12. Taking 0.05 mg synthyroid (since my thyroid is low) Took 1000 mcg folic acid daily (since Met can reduce absorption) Took prenatal vitamin, extra B&C vitamin and vitamin E. So far this is working. Just wanted to let you know that the Met *can* work. Before getting pregnant this time, my testosterone and LH levels were "normal", so the Met helped in that respect. I have had 3 previous miscarriages and I am convinced that the Met made a big difference in egg quality this time. Good luck to all of you! I am living proof that after 5 years of treatment it can happen for all of us! If you have any questions, feel free to email me. Thanks, Ruth ;-) ruth.phillips@gte.net
