For Dr. Sam about GlucocortoidsFrom: Christa (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 30 Apr 2001 11:12:02 -0500 (CDT)
Hi Dr. Sam -- Thank you for all your responses to my questions which seem endless. I have stopped taking the spironolactone as you recommended and I'm continuing with the Diane 35 as well as the Glucophage (1500mg a day). Are the effects of the BCP on IR great enough to counter the good effects the Glucophage has on IR? I don't want to entirely destroy the benefits of the Glucophage by taking the Diane. My endocrinologist has always had me on both the Glucophage and some type of BCP.(usually orthotricyclen) I have read about Glucocorticoids being a good option to lower the male hormones present in the blood. Can you list some drugs that are Glucocorticoids? Is spironolactone or finasteride a glucocorticoid? Are any as strong as the Diane? Do glucocorticoids have the same effect on IR as the BCPs do? Sorry this is so long. Thank you for all your help.
-- Christa :-)
