Re: I have a question about Pcos, and whether or not I should take Prednizone.From: =?iso-8859-2?q?Zalányi Sámuel?= (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 30 Apr 2001 08:14:24 +0100 (MET DST)
Hi Lisa, Prednisone is an adrenal corticosteroid beleived to suppress the androgen overproduction by the adrenals (and possibly of the ovaries). This is not the latest treatment form which is considered to be effective.Porvera only regulates your period, but suppresses ovulation. If your progesterone was low you didn't ovulate on clomid either. The root of the PCOS is insulin resistance and if you need to suppress acne or hair growth you may take some specific antiandrogens (the type depends on the country you are living in). For your help Sam Ob/Gyn,RE
