Re: HAS PCOS BEEN PAINFUL FOR ANYONE ELSE?From: Shelly (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 29 Apr 2001 19:11:13 -0500 (CDT)
I've found the PCOS can cause ovarian pain, inspite of the fact I had an endocrinologist tell me it couldn't. By treating the pain you're treating the symptom rather then the underlying problem but when you're in pain that a real good symptom to treat. Possibility: 1)The pain seems to be lessened when ovulation is supressed. That's why BCP sometimes work. If one BCP doesn't do it try another. I've heard Demulen (in US) and Diane 35 (outside US) are good for this. 2)It's the synthetic progestin in the BCPs that supresses ovulation. Some feel wild yam pills and natural progesterone cream can do the same thing. 3)There is a pain killer called Neuronton (prescription). It didn't start it's medical life as a pain killer, this is one of it's beneficial side effects. Works for me. good luck
