Hello everyone, Ok, I posted here a few days ago (quite a few replies), yet NONE of my posts showed up. :( I'm hoping this one goes through. Ok, I got the results of my blood work. I don't have cushings, my fasting glucose was around 95 (I don't have the results with me--I have to get a copy, so I may be wrong on this number), my IR was about 20 ish---the one number I AM sure on is this, the ratio for my IR is 4.6. (IR is listed as 4.5-so I'm just out of range). So, they're keeping me on Avandia 2mg 2/day, and I will go back in another 2 months to get another shot of Lupron. They also gave me Flutamide (same as Donna, we go to the same clinic). I take 2 pills at once (125 mg ea). They told me that the most common side effect is dry skin. I looked this drug up on http://www.rxlist.com and saw that it has similar side effects to Met (but a MUCH lower % rate)--nausea, diarrhea and headaches. Since taking it, I've experienced SEVERE dry mouth/thirst. Could this be related, or am I just possibly dehydrated? Other than that, I haven't experienced any side effects. I have been walking a lot lately, but trying not to overdo it. The Dr. I saw doesn't agree with the Atkins Diet or the "low carb" diets, so they're keeping me on a high protein "moderate" carb diet to see what happens. I'm just concerned about my weight, since my IR isn't as bad as others, yet I just CAN'T lose this weight no matter what I've tried. I'm wondering if there's something else going on that has been causing the weight gain, KEEPING it at this weight, and NOT letting me lose it. At least I'm on the Flutamide now (which is listed as a "potent anti-androgen" on rxlist.com), which will thankfully help. The Dr. said this will only help with the hirsutism, not acne. Is this correct? Well, that's my update. Any replies or further information is always welcome. Thanks! --Zowie :)
