I started taking Metformin in September 2000 for PCOS. I started with 500 mg and am up to 1500 mg. From reading the other responses to your post, I see that I am lucky with side effects. I had occasional diarrea at first, no side effects now, unless you count the 10 pound weight loss and a reduction of sweet cravings. Don't give up too soon.
