Yes your right Christa the first 2 weeks of the Atkins diet is very hard because it is Protiene only...no carbs what so ever so that your body will reach the ketosis state (this is when you want to use ketostix)...after the first 2 weeks it slowly adds some carbs back into the diet, But there are still many fruits and veggies that are off limits...such as potatoes, carrots and yes bananas. After the first 2 weeks of the diet I started modifying it to suit my needs and have been using a glycemic index book to count carbs instead of calories and fat.I have lost 25 lbs so far in 3 months. I do cheat once in a while and have a banana or even a piece of chocolate cake...but I make sure it is a small amount so it is still a low amount of carbs. Eat just a 1/4 of a banana instead of the whole thing so it is less carbs. Hope this helped...You may want to check out the sugar buster diet...it is based on the same princible of low carbing but is not as restrictive, but you still can not have certain "High Carb" fruits and veggies. Hope this helped a bit,Dona
