Hi Susan C, You understood me absolute all right. It was old knowledge that PCOSers tend to turn diabetic in the older age. So the link with diabetes was well known (at least for those familiar with the syndrome). So I advise my patients to stay on metformin as long as they can and naturally keeping a low carb diet (like diabetics) helps a lot. And exactly this is the point in my fighting some of you taking different unproven "medications". Otherwise gestational diabetics are also at increased risk of turning into type2. Hope this helps. Sam P.S. I found other replies to your question and here are some additions: Type2 diabetes is a delicate equilibrium of your metabolism. It means that your system doesn't handle glucose and insulin properly. Loosing weight, taking insulin sensitizers helps to correct this but it only means you can control/handle the imbalance. Sam
