Re: Question for Dr. Sam or anyone who might know through experienceFrom: =?iso-8859-2?q?Zalányi Sámuel?= (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 15 Apr 2001 10:35:39 +0100 (MET DST)
Hi Dona, This is a very practical question, but I am afraid, as the PCOS is in fact a metabolic desease and genetically coded insulin sensitizers should not be stopped. Type2 diabetics continue to take their drugs for life too. There is a slight chance however if lost substantial weight, your metabolism may return to near normal. I tried to answer your bleeding problem earlier, but here it is again. You should have your estradiol and/or endometrium checked. If the endometrium is thin, you should start with estrogens first. In my experience prolonged bleedings may be stopped by starting a short course (5-7 days) course of E2 followed by 10 days of Provera (or other progestin). Sam
