Re: D-chiro-inositol/Used For Women With PCOS/Please Read...From: jgv (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 14 Apr 2001 11:40:00 -0500 (CDT)
Hello, I'm glad someone mentioned d-chiro inositol. D-chiro inositol is found as a natural substance in foods. You can consume enough of these foods to get the therapeutic dose used in studies. This is exactly what I've done with success. I am a 20+ year PCO'er. Symptoms started at puberty. Periods never regular. By eating soy lecithin as a source of d-chiro inositol, I have had 4 ovulatory cycles and one annovulatory cycle in 5 months. My gynecologist is amazed and thrilled. I've never had treatment offered except the BCP. I have mostly posted on the PCO Natural list (closed to new members?) and SoulCysters so you can search for more info there. I do have an e-mail prepared that I have been sending out with the full New England Journal of Medicine article about d chiro inositol (99kb attachment), a list of foods high in d-chiro inositol and an Excel spreadsheet attachment that shows how much of each food you have to consume to get the therapeutic amount. Soy lecithin is the only rich source that you could consume every day in the necessary quantitites. e mail me if you would like this.
