ConfusionFrom: linda (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 10 Apr 2001 23:05:08 -0500 (CDT)
First, not sure if I am going about posting a question the correct way. Second, my girlfriend has been diagnosed with PCOS. Her main symptom is facial hair and so the Dr. prescribed hormone therapy. So far in reading numerous messages regarding this disease, I haven't seen where this was the proper medication. It's a patch with estrogen and progesterin called combi patch. Has anyone heard of this treatment for PCOS? Concern here is with the side effects as well as her being a heavy smoker. Hormone therapy seems reasonable for facial hair problems however, Hormone therapy is also very risky for diabetes. She hasn't been diagnosed with diabetes however I am getting with PCOS diabetes is possible. Is that true? Third, read alot about the Insulin Resistant, what is that? We are new to this disease so any information would be greatly appreciated. thanks linda
