Hello again Sam, Just wondering, is spironolactone a diuretic? I'm not sure I completely understand your comments about taking medications for the acne and hirsutism in combination with insulin sensitizers. Since I'm now on Avandia, would taking spiro in combination be effective? If not, what else could you recommend that I could take for my acne and hirsutism? I'm still confused as to why the Dermatologist told me that MY acne/hirsutism is caused by my fat cells and NOT testosterone. If this is really possible, then what could I take since spiro (according to the Derm.) would be a futile effort because it's an anti-androgen, not an anti-fat cell pill. (Or am I making ANY sense here?) Also, I've been waiting for a response from you regarding treatment options as we were talking about in my post about a week or so ago (spontaneous bleeding, what's causing it?). I am happy to report that FINALLY the vaginal bleeding has stopped (althugh it would stop and come back), but don't know for how long. So if you could please get back to me when you can, I'd appreciate your input. Thanks so much. :) --Zowie

I said "superfluous" which is quite a difference and I have described in the other posting today why. You should also check my earlier postings in connectioin with BCPs and PCOS. While Diane is able to block the symptoms of PCOS, but does not go to the roots of it. Insulin sensitizers do. Now if you have a causal treatment (insulin sens.) for PCOS it is superfluous to take a diuteric for acne. I could accept taking Diane/Androcur or Finasterid with ins. sensitizers if the skin/hair problem is too bad, or if somebody needs contraception but not otherwise. You seem to fancy amassing different medications plus vitamins, Saw Palmetto and who knows what else. This is an imprudent way of treating any condition including PCOS.
