Another Update--Donna, Sam, any advice please?From: Zowie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 4 Apr 2001 19:46:34 -0500 (CDT)
Hello again, Ok, I had my appt. today and made no progress whatsoever. Just as I suspected, this appt. at my REGULAR clinic produced no results--except for starting my Rx for my iron and vitamins at THIS base, rather than at one that is about 45 mins. north--so I got my iron pills and a totally different vitamin to take. I was at the clinic for over an hour--mostly waiting (for a room to become available and then for the Dr). They told me that vaginal bleeding is an "adverse reaction" to the Lupron shot. Why wasn't I informed of this BEFORE, and how come all of the nurses I've spoken to were not aware of this? It was the Triage Nurse who told me to get an appt. to be seen. I couldn't get anyone from Portsmouth (where the RE is and where I got the shot) to return my calls, so when my local (Oceana) clinic called after receiving the message from Triage, they booked the appt. with them. Basically, I need to be seen at Portsmouth--there is nothing anyone can do for me here at my local clinic. They can't even tell me how long this bleeding is supposed to last, but I did find out that the pain medication I was given for my back (flurbiprofen, generic of "Ansaid") is something I shouldn't be taking because it's basically an ibuprofen class medication (can't take it because of my bleeding problems). So they gave me Tylenol and sent me home. I have been trying to get a hold of someone at Portsmouth just to even TALK to and can only get voice mail. After I came home (at 5:30) I rec'd 2 messages from Portsmouth (and the clinic closed at 4), 1 from the nurse who was supposed to call me back YESTERDAY to schedule my appt., and the other was from another nurse I had spoken to who was trying to book an appt, but couldn't find any spots avail. (he notified this 2nd nurse). I know this sounds so confusing, but I just don't know WHAT to do. I can't get a hold of anyone there, and when they DO call me back, it's too late to book an appt. or leave a message for the Dr. (who isn't there this week). I'm feeling horrible and am more concerned because of my "adverse reaction" because I don't know what can be done to stop it. Please, if anyone has any advice, I'd appreciate your suggestions. It's taken me 2 years with fighting the Navy just to get to this point for "treatment" and now I'm stuck at a dead end. I'm going nuts! Please help!! (I apologize for whining YET AGAIN) :(
