Re: HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!From: Dona (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 31 Mar 2001 13:03:23 -0600 (CST)
Hi Kristy, Have you seen a specialist? A reproductive endocrinologist. Most fertility clincs have one. Even if your not trying to have a baby PCOS does cause infertility as you know. So this might be a good person to consult with and get you on the right track with the proper medications such as metformin or Avandia alone or in conjunction with BCP and spiro if you do not wish to get pregnant. I was a lot like you. No periods for months at a time and a lot of pain. when I did have a period it would be painful and I would bleed for 2 weeks.I had to self refer to a Reproductive Endo. He did all the hormone testing and IR testing and Ultra sounds and put me on Actos (Simular to Avandia) after one month on Actos I had a period. I have had a period every 25 days since and it lasts the normal 4-5 days instead of 14.I still do have slight pain and cramping but not nearly as bad as before. OBGYN are great to see if your pregnant and have no issues like PCOS.Some are aware of PCOS but not all. A Reproductive Endo knows a lot more about PCOS than a regular OBGYN. Hope I helped in some small way and good luck at your doctors appointment I Hope you found a OBGYN that is PCOS educated. Dona > >Hi, everyone.
