Re: PCOS or Cushings?From: Zowie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 29 Mar 2001 16:20:33 -0600 (CST)
Hello again, Actually, I'm to take those 2 pills tonight and get the blood work done tomorrow (after my 1st RE appt scheduled for 8 am--same building). The test has to be mailed out, so I have no clue on how long the results will take to get, but I am worried. :( I'm also expecting yet ANOTHER backset from the RE. See, being a military wife, we have a "special" health care called Tricare----it's a BS HMO that is so horrible problems and Dr. neglect are all part of the routine. I can't tell you how many times any of my appts. have been screwed up or heard "it's not in my computer" phrase. It's as if problems are just part of the deal. I have yet to NOT have a problem in any aspect. So I'm expecting the RE to yet again dismiss me and tell me to lose weight (even that Dermatologist recommended that stomach stapling surgery because he insisted my 'symptoms' were fat related!). I will bring all of my reference materials again (you should see my husband carrying the huge book and all the paperwork I have!), but they haven't helped before--not even to make the Dr. intimidated! The only reason I'm getting a real grip on medical terminology and understanding is because of this "rare" condition I have that NO Dr. seems to fully understand. Well, that, and the fact that I've decided to take a Medical Transcription course so I can work at home from my computer and earn a living. I'm so sick (literally, physically and emotionally) with PCOS and it's symptoms that I can't work in a "real" job--I've been nearly fired several times because I've ended up in the ER or had to have an urgent appt. which took time off work. I ended up having to quit to avoid being fired--and they made no reservations about telling me their standpoint either. Hopefully, by taking this MT course, I'll be able to UNDERSTAND more about my body (since Dr's are of no help) and make money doing what I love--to type and learn! Everything I've ever learned in the "medical field" has been from books that I have. I wish you luck in your test, as I hope you wish me luck in my home study course! :) Take care, and keep in touch. Email me anytime: munchichic@cavtel.net (sorry, don't know how to put a link in this board!) :)
