Re: 'Thymuskin, PCOS and Hairloss.'From: Christa (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 23 Mar 2001 18:05:06 -0600 (CST)
Hi Annette - You sound very upset and I want to tell you that I got a lump in my throat reading your letter because I have felt the same despair. I have some terrible symptoms from the PCOS. My acne is bad and has been for about 12 years. I have been from doctor to doctor to doctor and tried every existing method known to the dermatologists but no one could help me. Sometimes it's so terrible I call in sick to work because my face looks so bad. Then I try to cover up with makeup but end up looking like its caked on. I'm still on antibiotics for it which happen to make my face look like I have dark patches and discolored skin all over. I also take the glucophage for my insulin resistance and spironolactone for the excessive hair growth on my chin(I tweeze every single night with a really good magnifying mirror). I was at my wits end about a month ago. I was literally crying like a baby in my bedroom about the whole thing. I'm so self-conscious about it. My boyfriend and I are talking about our future together and moving in together and everything and I'm beside myself because he's never seen me without makeup on and I'm worried about it all. It's my own feelings. Friends of mine say it won't matter to him but I feel embarassed about it. I can't just hop out of the shower because I feel so ridiculous with my skin and everything. I have recently been put on the Diane 35 which I am hoping will help me. Many of the women have reported very good results from that. It should help you too with your hair loss. How long have you been on it? Removing your ovaries will not solve your problem so don't do anything that drastic. I'm happy to hear you are going to see and endo, try to find one who is sympathetic and well versed with PCOS. You can find support and helpful tips from other women on this forum as well as other forums on the internet. I believe there will be a cure for this soon. We can sure keep trying to find a solution in the mean time. Try to hang in there sweetie, you sound so depressed over all this and I completely understand where you're coming from. I'll say a little prayer for you tonight.
